Biblical Accuracy

Blessed Assurance, Jesus is mine
He's been my fourth man in the fire, time after time

  • This kind of language is something that we, as Christians, must be careful with. Yes, God is faithful to us in difficult times, but He is not always sitting next to us getting us out of every situation we get ourselves into. He is not just a “bro” hanging out with us. He is our king and savior.

  • What’s also important to note is that Shadraq, Meshaq, and Obendnigo were facing persecution for their faith. They weren’t just in a difficult situation; their faith in God was being tested directly and intensely. God met them in the middle of their persecution and rescued them. We have to be careful equating everyday difficulties and unfavorable circumstances to unimaginable persecution. Yes, God is faithful in it all, but what we suffer daily is nothing compared to the millions of Christians being persecuted for their faith. If we aren’t careful, this can create a victim mentality in the Christian church.

Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood
And what He did for me on Calvary is more than enough

  • What Christ did on the cross is more than enough to forgive us of our sins. However, we have to make sure we don’t lean too far to the other side and use Jesus’ death as an excuse to sin and/or not take responsibility for our sin. There is a daily and even hourly need for repentance from sin, and the responsibility for such repentance sits squarely on our shoulders.

I trust in God, my Savior
The one who will never fail
He will never fail
I trust in God, my Savior
The one who will never fail
He will never fail

Perfect submission, all is at rest
I know the author of tomorrow has ordered my steps
So this is my story and this is my song
I'm praising my risen King and Savior all the day long

  • This is a great testament to God’s sovereignty. Psalm 37:23 says “the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way”. We have to remember that for those that seek after God’s will, their steps are ordered by the Lord. This gives us confidence to trust in God’s plan for us even when it isn’t unfolding on our terms.

I trust in God, my Savior
The one who will never fail
He will never fail
I trust in God, my Savior
The one who will never fail
He will never fail

He didn't fail you then
He won't fail you now

I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered
I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered
I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered
That's why I trust Him, that's why I trust Him
I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered
I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered
I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered
That's why I trust Him, that's why I trust Him
I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered
I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered
I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered
That's why I trust Him, that's why I trust Him
I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered
I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered
I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered
That's why I trust Him

  • This is a direct quote from Psalm 34:4. David wrote this after escaping from King Abimelech and the Philistines.

  • This isn’t wrong to sing to God when He has surely delivered you from danger, but we have to tread lightly when saying we trust God because He delivers us from danger. Sometimes, God allows us to run into danger to discipline us. This also tests our faith and trust in Him (Hebrews 12:6).

  • Suffering is one of the most important aspects of Christian life. Expecting God to deliver us from every trial and tribulation will surely lead to confusion and an apathetic faith.

That's why I trust in God, my Savior
The one who will never fail
He will never fail
Oh, I trust in God, my Savior
The one who will never fail
He will never fail
I sought the Lord

I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered
I sought the Lord (and He delivered me from all my fears)
I sought the Lord (from everything)
And He heard and He answered, oh
That's why I trust Him, that's why I trust Him
I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered
I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered
I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered
That's why I trust Him, that's why I trust in God
